Prep report: Ice top Fire in girls all-star hockey game

Gardner's Warriors teammate, Hannah Johnston, fired in two goals to give the Fire a 2-1 lead in the second period before the Ice rallied.

Claudia Gagnon of the Duluth Northern Stars had a goal and two assists while Bemidji's Karleigh Wolkerstorfer had three assists.

Boys basketball

Duluth Denfeld 81,

Hermantown 40

Andrew Laughlin scored 21 points and Derek Meger had 18 and the visiting Hunters raced to a 38-17 halftime lead en route to wrapping up an undefeated Lake Superior Conference season.

Denfeld is 19-6 overall entering Friday's regular-season finale at Duluth East and finished 9-0 in the LSC.

Eau Claire North 50,

Superior 42

Josh Weix scored 19 points to lead the Huskies past the host Spartans in a Wisconsin Sectional 1 first-round contest.

Eau Claire North sported a 2-20 record entering the playoffs; Superior finished 12-10.

Girls basketball

Ashland 52

Alex Freeman had 20 points and Shamika Hopkins added 17 as the Greyhounds traveled to Ashland and won their regular-season finale.

East (20-5) is 13-1 in its last 14 games.
