Eric Gotz scored his second goal of the game 1:17 into overtime on a power play as second-ranked Hermantown avoided a second straight defeat to start the high school boys hockey season with a 4-3 victory at Roseville on Saturday.
Roseville scored three goals in the final 2:06 of regulation, including the tying goal by Matt Irwin with 10 seconds to play, to send the game to overtime.
Matt Valure, Nate Pionk and Gotz scored to put Hermantown ahead 3-0 but Roseville goalie Ryan Hoag made 51 saves to prevent any more goals in regulation.
Grand Rapids 6, Forest Lake 3
Mitchell Mattson netted a hat trick and the visiting Thunderhawks scored three times in each of the second and third periods for the nonconference win Saturday night.
John Stampohar added a goal and two assists for Grand Rapids.

Tartan’s Gabriella Bjellos scored with 9 seconds left in overtime to duplicate what the Northern Stars did at the end of the third period and win the Saturday night game in St. Paul.
Sydney Schuman’s goal with 9 seconds remaining in regulation forced the extra session.
