Duluth East and Hermantown learned their opponents for this week's Minnesota high school boys hockey state tournament.
The third-seeded Greyhounds (23-2-3) will face unseeded St. Michael-Albertville (23-5) in a Class AA quarterfinal at approximately 1:15 p.m. Thursday at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
The winner meets either No. 2 Edina or unseeded Lakeville North, which kick off the large-school tournament at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Top-ranked Hermantown (20-6-2) also earned the No. 1 seed and will play unseeded Monticello/Maple Lake (19-7-2) in a Class A quarterfinal at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The program, competing as Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake, lost 4-3 in double overtime to the Hawks in last season's state title game. Annandale was dropped from the co-operative after the 2016-17 season to keep the schools' combined enrollments from rising into the AA ranks.
Hermantown, the two-time defending champ, also has Alexandria Area and Thief River Falls in its bracket.
