Peterson got the scoring started in the first period, and the Thunderhawks (10-3) never looked back in winning their fifth straight.

Grand Rapids and the Lumberjacks played twice last season, with both contests resulting in a tie.

Superior 9, New Richmond 4

The Spartans scored four unanswered goals in the third period to top the Western Wisconsin All-Stars in New Richmond.

Emma Peterson notched a hat trick for Superior, while Jordyn Thompson, Devyn Moss and Ari Jago each scored twice. Justine Stenberg made 13 saves for the Spartans.

Cloquet 76, Hibbing 44

Adam Laine led all scorers with 19 points as the Lumberjacks (8-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season to win on the road.

Four Lumberjacks scored in double figures, led by Kassidy Steen's 22 points, as host Cloquet pulled away from the Golden Bears with a 35-19 second-half scoring run.

Katelyn Rice led Eveleth-Gilbert with 22 points.
