Defender Bailey Frantz scored two second-half goals to spark Duluth East to a 3-0 victory over Blaine in a Section 7AA high school boys soccer quarterfinal Tuesday night at Ordean Stadium.
David Wallerstein opened the scoring in the 46th minute for East (11-5) before Frantz tacked on goals eight minutes apart.
The Greyhounds advance to play at second-seeded Centennial in a semifinal at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The visiting Rails wrapped up their first Lake Superior Conference title since 1995 with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-18 victory.

Smith advances to state
Northwestern senior Kiernan Smith has advanced to her second straight Wisconsin Division 2 state tournament after finishing in third place at the Baldwin-Woodville Sectional on Tuesday with a round of 87.
Prescott freshman Ava Salay took medalist honors with an 84. Ellsworth senior Holly Carlson was second at 86. Somerset’s Haley Myers also advanced to state as an individual qualifier with an 88.
Prescott and St. Croix Central advanced to state as teams with scores of 390 and 395, respectively.
Northwestern finished in fifth place at 433.
