Prep Report: Duluth Marshall rallies to beat CEC in boys soccer

The victory gave Marshall (10-6-1 overall, 8-2 conference) the Lake Superior Conference title by one point over Proctor.

Sheedy scored in the 44th minute and Zach Isaacson in the 60th as the Hilltoppers overcame a 2-0 halftime deficit.

River falls 7, Superior 0

Austin Saari scored five goals, including a natural hat trick in the second half, as the host Wildcats ended the Spartans' season in the first round of the Wisconsin Division 1 playoffs.

-- Nick Lesneski and Brett Hulmer each had three goals as Ashland romped 10-0 over visiting Baldwin-Woodville in the opening round of the Division 2 playoffs.

The Hawks (16-8, 5-0) remained on a collision course with Cloquet for the LSC title by sweeping the visiting Spartans.

Greenway 3, Chisholm 1

Callie Orazem and Taylor Orhn each had 11 kills as the Raiders opened the Iron Range Conference playoffs with a win at Chisholm. Greenway (16-9) advances to play in Thursday's semifinals at Hibbing, where the Raiders ended a 22-year drought earlier this season.

Northwestern sweeps

conference titles

Northwestern swept team titles Tuesday in the Heart O'North Conference meet in Ladysmith, Wis.

The Northwestern boys finished with 31 points and Bloomer was second with 63. Bloomer junior John Vodacek won the 5,000-meter race in 16 minutes, 44.8 seconds.

Northwestern teammates were next, sophomore Ryan Lind in 17:25 and freshman Mason Lombard in 17:42.1.

The Northwestern girls were first with 30 points and Hayward was second with 68. Ladysmith sophomore Andi Ostenso led in 14:01.6 for 4,000 meters.

Northwestern sophomores placing third and fourth were Olivia Amber in 15:46.8 and Jordan Johnson in 15:47.3.

A Wisconsin Division 2 sectional is Oct. 22 in Amery.
