Prep Report: Duluth East rallies past Central in boys soccer

Ben Campbell made seven saves for Central (1-6).

Connor Kanuit scored two unanswered goals as the Hawks rallied from a 1-0 deficit for the road win.

Aaron Luhm made five saves for Hermantown

(3-2-1).

Hunter Leon scored for CEC (2-3-1).

GIRLS SOCCER

CLOQUET 3, HERMANTOWN 1

Jessie Ryan had a goal and assist and Kaitrin Rathe made 16 saves to lead the Lumberjacks (1-4) to the upset victory over the host Hawks, the News Tribune's No. 2 ranked girls soccer team.

Christina Petsoulis had the lone goal for Hermantown (2-2-2).

CROSS COUNTRY

HOLMES BEATS SHADY TO FINISH

Leah Holmes of Superior edged Marisa Shady of Esko by a 10th of a second to win the girls 4,000-meter race in Thursday's Nemadji Invitational cross country meet at Nemadji Golf Course. Holmes was first in 15 minutes, 50.9 seconds and Shady was second in 15:51.

Esko won the girls team title and Superior was

second.

Jackson Lindquist of Esko won the boys 5,000-meter race in 17:06.9. Duluth Central won the team title with Matt Kero placing third.

VOLLEYBALL

GREENWAY 3, HBBING 2

Taylor Ohrn had 20 kills as the Raiders beat the host Bluejackets 25-27, 25-13,

25-18, 12-25, 15-12 in a match between two of the Northland's top teams.

Ebony Gray had 16 kills for Hibbing.

Greenway (4-0) is ranked third in the News Tribune's small-school ranking while the Bluejackets (2-1) are the top-ranked large-school team.

ESKO 3, TWO HARBORS 0

Allyson Glumac had six kills to lead a balanced attack as the Eskomos (3-0), the News Tribune's top-ranked small-school team, rolled to a 25-11, 25-5, 25-9 victory over the visiting Agates.
