Prep report: Cloquet edges Grand Rapids in softball

Pitcher Paul tosses three-hitter in 3-2 victory.

Amanda Paul tossed a three-hitter and struck out 11 to lead Cloquet to a 3-2 victory over Grand Rapids in a Lake Superior Conference softball game Thursday at Braun Park in Cloquet.

Paul walked none to outduel the Thunderhawks’ Hannah Kinnunen, who allowed six hits and struck out four.

Duluth East 11, Virginia 0

Cassie Bergman scattered 10 hits but kept the Blue Devils off the scoreboard in the five-inning road victory.

South Ridge 18, McGregor 6

Adella Olesiak drove in four runs and earned the pitching win in the Panthers’ five-inning Polar League home victory.


South Ridge 20, McGregor/CW 0

The host Panthers no-hit the Mercuries in a five-inning Polar League game.


Connor Bushbaum drove in three runs to back starting pitcher Aaron Bennett’s four innings of no-hit ball.

Proctor 10, Two Harbors 3

Josh Monreal was 4-for-4, including banging a three-run double in the host Rails’ four-run first inning, in the nonconference win. Monreal finished with five RBIs.
