Chris Meier scored two goals, Matt Erickson made two saves and Duluth Central moved into a tie for first place in the Lake Superior Conference with a 2-1 high school boys soccer victory over Ashland on Monday night in Ashland.
The Trojans (11-3-3, 8-1-3 LSC) are tied with Hermantown, which plays its final games of the regular season today, for the top spot in the conference.
The Oredockers took a 1-0 lead when Nick Lesneski scored on a penalty shot in the sixth minute. Central tied the score in the 46th minute when Corey Hietapelto assisted on Meier's first goal. Meier picked up his second goal in the 69th minute to put the Trojans, who are seeded fourth in the Section 7A playoffs, up for good.
