Goaltender Zach Tyman saved all 23 shots he faced as Cloquet-Esko-Carlton opened the Section 7AA high school boys hockey playoffs with a 2-0 quarterfinal victory over Duluth Marshall on Thursday night in Cloquet.
Travis Berg scored in the second period and Dan Demuth tallied in the third period.
The Lumberjacks (11-7-1) advance to play top-seeded Grand Rapids in a semifinal Saturday at the IRA Civic Center.
Sam Anderson turned away 39 shots for the Hilltoppers.

Austin Josephson scored 27 points and the Panthers overcame a seven-point halftime deficit to win the Section 7A first-round game at Culver.
South Ridge (13-6) next travels to Deer River (17-2), which defeated Silver Bay 103-38 for its 15th consecutive victory, for a quarterfinal Saturday.
