Cory Hietapelto scored a goal and Matt Erickson stopped four shots in Duluth Central's 1-0 victory over Duluth Denfeld in a Lake Superior Conference high school boys soccer match Monday at Public Schools Stadium.

Hietapelto got the game's lone tally from Kyle Milbrath in the 18th minute as the visiting Trojans (5-2 overall, 4-1 LSC) shut out the Hunters (3-4, 2-2). Goalkeeper Josh Jurek made five saves for Denfeld.

PROCTOR 3,SUPERIOR 2

Kevin Jahr's goal in the final two minutes broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the host Rails past the Spartans in an LSC match.

Donovan DeBartolo and Matt Holter gave Proctor (3-3 overall, 2-3 LSC) a 2-0 lead in the first half before Superior's Pat Dalbec scored in the 35th minute. Rob Kraft tied the game in the 75th minute.

Rails goalkeeper Lee Melde made four saves, and Kyle Ilenda had nine for the Spartans (0-7, 0-4).

GIRLS SOCCER

DULUTH CENTRAL 2,DULUTH DENFELD 1

Kylie Murray broke a 1-all tie in the second half, and Breanna Larson and LaVonne Bellanger combined to stop six shots as the visiting Trojans topped the Hunters in a Lake Superior Conference match at Public Schools Stadium.

Denfeld's Jenna Bartsias scored the game's first goal, assisted by Aili Susnik. Sam Buckley tied it later in the first half for Central (2-6 overall, 1-4 LSC).

Felicia Bibeau made seven saves for the Hunters (1-5-1, 0-3-1).

HERMANTOWN 3,TWO HARBORS 1

Janae Baron had two goals and assisted on another, Kaylee Steen stopped 15 shots and the host Hawks defeated the Agates in a nonconference match.

Sierra Tietge's goal in the 14th minute gave the Agates a 1-0 lead, but the Hawks' Julia Gilbert got the equalizer eight minutes later and Baron broke the tie a minute before halftime on an assist from Gilbert.

Baron added her second of the game in the 65th minute for Hermantown (8-0). Meghan Stratioti made 18 saves for Two Harbors (7-3).

VOLLEYBALL

GRAND RAPIDS 3,DULUTH CENTRAL 0

Brynn Joki and Amanda Hardy had seven kills apiece as the host Thunderhawks topped the Trojans 25-5,25-14, 25-15 in a nonconference match.

Crystal Bowens had four kills and Jessica Minnotte added six set assists for Central (0-4). Grand Rapids improved to 4-1.

HERMANTOWN 3,MOOSE LAKE-WR 0

Alicia Carlson had 19 set assists, Kelsey Marceski had eight kills and Samantha Kallberg and Jenny Kienzle added seven kills apiece as the visiting Hawks beat the Rebels 25-18, 25-16, 25-17.

Maggie Ackerson collected 20 set assists and Hillary Peterson had nine kills for Moose Lake-Willow River (3-2). Ellen Folman made 12 digs for Hermantown (3-3).

EVELETH-GILBERT 3,TWO HARBORS 0

Cassie Fleming had 14 digs and seven set assists, and Josie Delich added six kills in the Golden Bears'25-14, 25-12, 25-12 victory over the visiting Agates.

Sarah Stark made nine digs and Abby Gilbertson had two blocks for Two Harbors (0-9). Nikki Shaleen had 10 set assists and four kills for Eveleth-Gilbert (3-0).
