Seniors Kaden Kimmes and Carter Fonger scored touchdowns as Superior handed top-ranked Notre Dame Academy a 19-10 defeat Saturday in high school football action in Green Bay.

In an entertaining back-and-forth defensive contest, the Spartans jumped out to an early 10-0 lead before Notre Dame (5-1) came back to tie it 10-10.

After Notre Dame running back Will Zellner was tackled in the end zone for a safety, Superior (5-1) got some breathing room when Fonger snared a 51-yard reception to get the Spartans to the Notre Dame 4-yard line. That set up his touchdown plunge with 1:14 to go to help put the game away.

Kimmes rushed for 80 yards on 19 carries, while Fonger added 72 yards rushing on 15 attempts. Kimmes completed 6 of 10 passes for 133 yards, four going to Fonger for 113 yards.

That is Superior’s final game of this unprecedented alternative spring season while Notre Dame closes at Stoughton next week.
