Prep football roundup: Late surge sends Central past Ashland

Junior running back Nate Beaulieu's 15-yard run capped Duluth Central's rally in the fourth quarter as the Trojans defeated Ashland 14-6 in a high school football game Friday night at Public Schools Stadium.

Ashland (0-3) took a 6-0 lead on a short run early in the final quarter before C.J. Ham tied it with a 20-yard run for Central (2-0). A blocked extra point left the game tied at 6, setting up Beaulieu's heroics.

Hudson 23, Superior 8

Hudson scored 16 third-quarter points to pull away from the Spartans in a Big Rivers Conference game at home.

Hudson led 7-0 at the half before Jake Denison kicked a 22-yard field goal and Lawrence Pruitt returned a fumble 22 yards for a touchdown and a 23-0 lead.

Superior scored in the final quarter as Zach Erickson caught a 5-yard pass and the two-point conversion from Rob Dembroski.

Kasey Leggate rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns on six carries and T.J. Polkoski added 117 yards and two scores on 14 carries as the fourth-ranked Tigers (3-0) opened up their Heart O'North Conference schedule with a shutout victory over the Rails in Maple.

Northwestern's starting defense has not allowed a point in three games.
