Prep boys soccer: Ashland advances to state championship game

Brenton McPeak, Logan Tamke and Zach Whiting each scored a goal to lead the Ashland boys soccer team to a 3-0 victory over McFarland Thursday in a Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 3 state semifinal in Milwaukee.

The Oredockers (26-1) advance to the state title game at noon Saturday against Notre Dame (21-3-4).

McPeak scored unassisted and Tamke tallied with an assist from Alex Wilson to give Ashland a 2-0 halftime lead. Whiting then scored early in the second half with help from Dakota Weeks.

Ashland outshot McFarland 11-4.

Goalie Thomas Whiting made three saves for Ashland, while Westin Burke stopped one for McFarland (19-7-1).
