Bill Owens, a three-year assistant with the Duluth Marshall boys hockey team, will fill in for Hilltoppers coach Brendan Flaherty this winter.
Flaherty was diagnosed with throat cancer last April, shortly after completing his 22nd season guiding Marshall.
"Brendan has had so much success with this program over the years, and we're looking to build on what he's established here," said Owens, who was on the staff at St. Thomas Academy for 12 years before serving as head coach at St. Paul Academy and Summit from 2012-15.
