Prep basketball: Broman, Illikainen lead Minnesota All-Stars

Bjorn Broman scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Minnesota All-Stars to a 110-100 victory over Wisconsin on Tuesday in the annual Border Battle All-Star game at Romano Gym.

Bjorn Broman scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Minnesota All-Stars to a 110-100 victory over Wisconsin on Tuesday in the annual Border Battle All-Star game at Romano Gym.
The Lakeview Christian Academy senior, who became Minnesota’s second-highest career scorer behind his brother, Anders, helped Minnesota to a 59-41 halftime lead and finished with nine 3-pointers.
Alex Illikainen, who set scoring and rebounding records at Grand Rapids before playing his senior season at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, added 23 points. Hermantown’s Kole Zuidmulder scored 15 points on five 3-pointers and Barnum’s Brandon Newman had 13. The Minnesota team made 21 3-pointers.
Wisconsin was led by South Shore’s Blake Reijo with 22 points, Washburn’s Cody Tomlinson with 21 and Fall Creek’s Matt Anderson with 18.

WISCONSIN 94, MINNESOTA 70

Morganne Gruber of Durand led the way with 24 points, and four other Wisconsin All-Stars scored in double figures in an easy win over the Minnesota All-Stars.
Ashland’s Nicole Huber scored 15 points, Eau Claire North’s Alaina Quaranta added 14, Barron’s Gina Forehand had 13 and South Shore’s Megan Gustafson, the state’s all-time leading girls scorer, tossed in 10.
Wisconsin led 49-23 at halftime to end any suspense.
Minnesota was led by Eveleth-Gilbert’s Katelyn Rice with 16 points and Foley’s Tara Dusharm, who has signed with Division I St. Louis, with 15.
