Pool: Break Room to host top players this weekend

The Break Room in Duluth will host top professional pool players, including national and world champions, for its second annual Eightball Classic this weekend.

The Break Room in Duluth will host top professional pool players, including national and world champions, for its second annual Eightball Classic this weekend.

The event at The Break Room, 501 E. Fourth St., starts with a couple of bonus challenge matches tonight - eight-time world champion LoreeJon Hasson vs. five-time junior national champion April Larson at 7 p.m., then three-time Mosconi Cup veteran Justin Bergman vs. Derby City Classic one-pocket champion Billy Thorpe at 9 p.m.

The main event starts Friday evening and continues Saturday and Sunday, with more than $20,000 in prize money. Other entrants include hall of famers Earl "The Pearl" Strickland and Johnny "The Scorpion" Archer, and Shane Van Boening, the No. 1-ranked player in the U.S.

Daily general admission tickets are $20, with reserved seating available for $35 each day. Four-day VIP tickets also are available. Go to facebook.com/thebreakroomduluth for more details.
