Duluth East bounced back from a dispiriting loss to Class AA power Blaine on Saturday by fending off Duluth Marshall in a 1-0 boys soccer victory Tuesday.
Willy Atol produced the match's lone score with a penalty kick in the 45th minute, and goalkeeper Hugh VanScoy turned in another stingy effort to lift East (4-2-1) to its fourth win in five games.
Asher Norland had five saves for the host Hilltoppers (4-5), who have lost four of five.
