GREEN BAY -- The NFL has named Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson the NFC's defensive player of the month for September.
Woodson tied for the NFC lead with three interceptions during the month, including two that were returned for touchdowns. All three interceptions came in the fourth quarter and each resulted in a Green Bay touchdown.
This is the first Player of the Month award for the 11-year veteran from Michigan.
Atari Bigby is the only other Packers defensive back to win the honor. He did it back in December 2007.
The NFL also named New Orleans Saints quarterback the offensive player of the month, while Philadelphia Eagles punter Sav Rocca was the special teams player of the month.
