Mady Stariha drove in five runs Thursday in the first game of a doubleheader against Menomonie at NBC Spartan Sports Complex, though one would have been enough.

That's because Stariha, Superior's senior pitching ace, was untouchable in the circle, striking out 11 of 18 batters in a six-inning perfect game that carried the Spartans to a 10-0 win.

Stariha helped her cause with the five RBIs, which came on a home run and a double. Elise DeGraef was 3-for-4 with a homer, double and three RBIs and Chesie McLaughlin also went deep for Superior.

The Spartans claimed the nightcap 12-2 in five innings to secure a sweep, with McLaughlin earning the pitching win and also homering twice. Autumn Siers added three hits and two RBIs.

Grand Rapids 5, Hermantown 4

Lindsey Rajala and Ellie Tilma both doubled twice while going 3-for-4 in a nonconference road win over the Hawks.

Esko 15, Two Harbors 8

Kristy DeMuth's big day at the plate - four hits, including a homer and a double, plus two RBIs - powered the Eskomos to a Polar League victory in Two Harbors.

Esko's Sydney Hanson was 3-for-3 and tripled while driving in two runs.

For the Agates, Elizabeth Scoggin totaled three hits, with a double and three RBIs.

Duluth Marshall 11, Superior 1

The Hilltoppers improved to 7-1 by rolling past the Spartans in a five-inning Lake Superior Conference contest at Wade Stadium.

Marshall pitcher Carter Sullivan allowed three hits and a run over five innings. Charlie Kleinschmidt went 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple, double and three RBIs, while Peter Hansen was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to highlight the Hilltoppers' offense.

Hermantown 2, Cloquet 0

Jeb Paczynski scattered four hits over 6 1/3 scoreless innings as the Hawks won the LSC game in Cloquet.

Hermantown's offense came via RBIs from Rico Rodriguez and Indio Dowd.

Cook County 2, South Ridge 1

A dazzling pitching performance from Andrew Miller led the Vikings to a key Section 7A win in Culver.

Miller went the distance, striking out 15 in a four-hitter. He walked just one South Ridge batter. Cook County's Joe Deschampe and Dillon Sjogren drove in runs.

Duluth Denfeld 3, Ashland 2

Joe Udd's go-ahead triple in the fifth inning sent the Hunters to an LSC win at Wade Stadium.
