Curling: Shuster claims national title

John Shuster keeps on winning.

Shuster, a Chisholm native and Superior resident who claimed gold in the 2018 Winter Olympics, defeated Rich Ruohonen 8-4 in the men's final of the USA Curling National Championships on Saturday at Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Shuster, the team's skip, and Duluth Curling Club teammates Chris Plys and John Landsteiner as well as Matt Hamilton of McFarland, Wis., earned a berth in the World Championships next month.

Shuster scored the first four points and never looked back Saturday.

Jamie Sinclair beat Nina Roth 6-4 in the women's final.
