Prep report: Wojtysiak leads Cloquet past East
Cloquet responded to a 14-point halftime deficit by starting the second half on a 12-2 run en route to a 46-42 girls basketball win over visiting Duluth East on Monday night.
The Lumberjacks received a strong all-around performance from Allie Wojtysiak, who scored 23 points to go with 12 rebounds, four blocks and four steals.
Shay Callaway's 10 points led the Greyhounds.
McGregor 59, Onamia 58
Hailey Maas finished a 41-point night by hitting the game-winning field goal with 10 seconds to play to give the Mercuries the nonconference home win.
Lillian Orazem countered with 38 points for Onamia.
Duluth Marshall 91, Cook County 86
Only three players scored for the Vikings in their overtime loss at Marshall, but that's partly because Will Ramberg totaled 49 points.
His teammates, Pete Sutton and Jordan Porter, added 26 and 14 points, respectively.
Matthew Erickson drilled five 3-points during a 37-point effort for the Hilltoppers.
Hibbing 77, Cloquet 48
The Bluejackets stretched their winning streak to seven games with a comfortable nonconference victory in Hibbing.
The Bluejackets' Mayson Brown led all scorers with 24 points, 18 of them coming from beyond the arc.
Hermantown 5, VMIB 3
The Blue Devils threw a scare at the host Hawks, who trailed 3-2 after one period in the nonconference outing before scoring three unanswered goals to win their ninth straight game.
Hermantown's Darian Gotz notched the equalizer 4:40 into the second period, and teammate Aydyn Dowd produced the game-winner 26 seconds later.
