Prep report: Hermantown sweeps Cloquet

Connor Bich scored 24 points and Peter Soumis added 21 as host Hermantown defeated Cloquet 81-64 in a Lake Superior Conference boys basketball game Thursday night.

The Hawks, who swept the regular-season series from the Lumberjacks, raced to a 45-18 halftime lead.

Cloquet's Adam Schneider netted a team-high 18 points.


Hermantown 74, Cloquet 48

Ava Asgaard netted a game-high 25 points to lead the Hawks to the LSC win at home.

Allie Wojtysiak had 21 points for the Lumberjacks to reach 1,000 for her career.

Superior 53, Duluth East 44

Chloe Kintop (20 points) and Niya Wilson (17) propelled the Spartans at home.

Brett Okland's second-period goal proved to be the game-winner as the Blue Devils won the Iron Range Conference contest at home.

Cade Moreland had two assists for Virginia/Mountain Iron-Buhl.

Alyssa Watkins scored two goals and the Mirage outshot the Storm 33-8 to post the nonconference shutout in Two Harbors.
