Duluth's Joe Polo and Tabitha Peterson of Eagan, Minn., defeated the 2018 Winter Olympics bronze medalists from Norway in mixed doubles competition at the Curling World Cup on Wednesday in Omaha, Neb.
Peterson and Polo maintained control throughout most of the match against Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten. The U.S. took an early lead with a key steal in the fourth end but Norway countered in the fifth with a deuce. The turning point for the U.S. duo came in the sixth end when they struck for three points to take a 7-4 advantage.
Peterson and Polo won the lone U.S. medal at the 2016 World Mixed Doubles Championship when they took bronze.
