An estimated 300 rowers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Canada are expected to compete in the 61st annual Duluth International Rowing Regatta on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Park Point at 3911 Minnesota Ave.
The regatta will feature 28 men’s and women’s events in the junior (age 13-18), open and masters (age 27-plus) racing categories.
“The Duluth Rowing Club is poised to do well in several events,” Duluth Rowing Club coach Bonnie Fuller-Kask said in a news release. “There is a strong core of returning juniors who are back competing and many new juniors who will be racing for the very first time.”
The public is invited to watch the regatta from the shore of the Duluth Rowing Club. In the case of strong westerly winds, the regatta will be held on Lake Superior directly across the street from the Rowing Club.
- The Duluth Rowing Club will hold a community celebration from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday to mark the completion of a $1.5 million Rowing Center on Park Point. The event will feature several speakers, including 1988 Olympic silver medalist Dave Krmpotich. Tours of the facility also will be available to the general public.
