The Duluth Huskies' season came to an end Sunday, a repeat defeat the Northwoods League team experienced far too often down the stretch of the 2017 Northwoods League campaign.

The Waterloo Bucks scored three runs in the third inning to overcome an early Duluth lead and tacked on two more in the eighth after the Huskies had challenged to win 8-4 at Waterloo, Iowa.

Waterloo's Dalton Hurd was 2-for-3, including his 18th double of the season, and scored two runs.

The Huskies had 11 hits off six Waterloo pitchers but stranded nine batters to finish 31-41 overall this season, including a 2-8 finish in their final 10 games.

Losing pitcher Ryan Tapani, a right-handed junior at Creighton, was one of two Huskies to be named Sunday to the league's All-Star team. Second baseman Chase Strumpf, a freshman at UCLA, was the other.
