Northwoods League: Huskies rally past Stingers

The Huskies scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to grab the win.

DULUTH — Cam Frederick hit a walk-off single with in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Duluth Huskies a 7-6 win over Willmar on Sunday at Wade Stadium.

Frederick’s RBI single capped a four-run ninth inning for the Huskies after they fell behind the Stingers 5-2 following the first inning.

Pitcher Alex Potter struggled early, but after Willmar scored five in the first inning — only three earned — he settled in and kept the Stingers off the scoreboard the remainder of his five innings. Potter allowed eight hits and struck out four batters for Duluth.

Jared Mettam had a hit and two RBIs for the Huskies and Jonathan Vastine was 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Duluth (13-15) will host Eau Claire on Monday at 6:35 p.m. at Wade Stadium.
