LA CROSSE — Three Duluth Huskies pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout in a 4-0 Duluth win over the La Crosse Loggers on Saturday that puts the Huskies one win away from winning the Great Plains East division's first-half championship.
Jake Hamilton led the way, scattering two hits and three walks over the first six innings to get the win. He struck out eight.
Relievers J.D. McReynolds and Jake Christianson finished the job, covering the last three innings and allowing two walks and a single hit, with five strikeouts.
The Huskies took the lead in the fourth inning when Peyton Powell homered to right field, scoring Kristian Campbell, with two out. After Ambren Voitik singled and advanced to second, he scored an unearned run after Hudson Sapp hit into an infield error. The Huskies then tacked on a run in the fifth, when after loading the bases with no outs, Devin Hurdle scored as Campbell hit into a double play.
Six Huskies had one hit apiece to form the sum of their offense Saturday. Other than Powell's homer, Colin Burgess' double was the only extra-base hit in the Huskies' ledger.

Duluth (18-13), winners of three straight, now leads the Great Plains East division by 1 1/2 games with two to play, meaning a win in either of the Huskies' last two games of the first half of the season (at Waterloo Sunday and Monday) or a loss by second-place Eau Claire (17-15) in either of two home games vs. St. Cloud will lock Duluth into a postseason berth.
The Huskies will meet the Bucks at 2:35 p.m. on Sunday.
