DULUTH — Adam Axtell had three hits and three RBIs as the Bismarck Larks opened the second half of the Northwoods League season with an 8-4 victory over the Duluth Huskies Wednesday night before 503 at Wade Stadium.
Axtell also collected a walk as the Larks took advantage of 10 free passes and three Duluth errors.
Luke Glascoe and A.J. Barraza added two hits and two walks apiece while Reggie Williams had two hits and two RBIs for Bismarck. Larks relievers allowed only three hits and no runs over the final five innings.
Vanderbilt’s Jonathan Vastine hit a solo home run and Hudson Sapp and Peyton Powell chipped in two hits apiece for the Huskies, the first-half Great Plains East champions. Teammate Ambren Voitik added a walk, run and three stolen bases.
Duluth pitching struck out 11 but in addition to all the walks had three wild pitches as the game took nearly three and a half hours to complete.
