Summer has finally arrived after a cold spring, but it won’t be long until many Northlanders are thinking about fall hunting seasons.
With some seasons just nine weeks away, the News Tribune is running its annual list of most Minnesota and Wisconsin 2022 hunting seasons for your planning purposes. We’ve thrown in a couple from the Dakotas, too.
So go grab some clay pigeons and target loads and practice. Fall will be here before you know it.
Minnesota 2022 hunting seasons
Aug. 1 — Deadline to purchase bear permit.
Aug. 12 — Bear baiting begins.

Sept. 1-Oct. 31 — Crow.
Sept. 1-Oct. 16 — Bear.
Sept. 3-7 — Ducks, teal only, statewide (tentative).
Sept. 8 — Antlerless firearms deer permit and special hunt application deadline.
Sept. 3-18 — Early Canada goose (tentative).
Sept. 10-11 — Youth waterfowl hunt.
Sept. 17-Jan. 1 — Ruffed grouse.

Sept. 1-Nov. 29 — Mourning dove.
Sept. 1-9 — Early teal-only season.
Sept. 1-15 — Early goose, statewide.
Sept. 7-Oct. 11 — Bear (dates vary for baiting and use of dogs and by zone).
Sept. 16-Dec. 16 — Goose, north zone.
Sept. 17-18 — Youth waterfowl hunt, statewide.
Sept. 17-Jan. 8 — Deer, archery and crossbow.
Sept. 17-Jan. 8 — Ruffed grouse, north zone (northern two-thirds of state).
Sept. 17-Dec. 31 — Turkey, zones 1-5.
Sep. 17-Nov. 18 — Turkey, zones 6-7.
Sept. 17-Nov. 20 — Crow.
Sept. 17-Feb. 28 — Rabbits, north zone (there is no season or limit restrictions on hares).
