St. Scholastica freshman Hannah Bettendorf had a successful run last week at the U.S. Cross Country Junior Nationals in Anchorage, Alaska.
Bettendorf, who skied in high school for Proctor, finished second in the U-20 women's 10-kilometer mass start classic race on Friday, finishing in 29 minutes, 26.8 seconds, just 6 seconds behind winner Sophia Laukli of Stratton (Vt.) Mountain School. St. Scholastica sophomore Cecelia Boyle of Oakdale, Minn., was 15th in 30:39.2.
Bettendorf also reached the podium with a third in Saturday's 3x3 relay freestyle event, teaming with Regan Duffy and Lucinda Anderson, while Jasper Johnston of Ely took third in Friday's U-16 boys' 5K mass start classic race.
