An amazing five overtime victories in an 11-1-2 start propelled the Minnesota Duluth men to a No. 1 hockey ranking in November for the first time since 2004. The Bulldogs remained No. 1 for three weeks and were No. 2 at the mid-season break.
The on-ice success only heightened the anticipation of moving into the $60 million Amsoil Arena with the opening game today against North Dakota. UMD was 7-1 at the DECC this season and finished 459-352-51 during 45 years in the building.
