Ninth-inning double sends Huskies past Bucks

Vavra powered Duluth's offense by batting 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs.

Michael Gunn picked up his first victory of the season in relief of Joey Novak. Gunn pitched three innings and struck out four batters while giving up two hits, one earned run and a walk.

Waterloo (19-13) grabbed a 4-0 lead after three innings, but Duluth (16-14) scored three runs in the fourth inning and another run in the sixth to knot the score at 4-4.

The Bucks moved ahead again in the ninth via a home run from Jordan Adams, but the Huskies finally grabbed the lead on Vavra's clutch double that scored Paul Karmeris and Luke Campbell, who reached base thanks to an error and walk, respectively.
