Defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago assigned 2013 Hobey Baker Memorial Award winner Drew LeBlanc of Hermantown to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.
By reassigning eight players, the Blackhawks reduced their training camp roster to 28 a week before the team opens the NHL regular season.
LeBlanc, a forward, played in two games for Chicago toward the end of the regular season after helping St. Cloud State to the NCAA Frozen Four and earning the honor as college hockey's top player.
