Former Minnesota Duluth forward Joey Anderson received his first NHL call up from the New Jersey Devils on Friday.

The Devils announced the move Friday on Twitter. Anderson will be eligible to make his NHL debut at 11 a.m. Saturday against the Florida Panthers in Newark, N.J.

Anderson, a 20-year-old rookie from Roseville, Minn., has two goals and three assists in eight games with the Binghamton Devils of the American Hockey League. He was drafted by the Devils organization 73rd overall in the third round of the 2016 NHL Draft.

The older brother of current Bulldogs sophomore defenseman Mikey Anderson, Joey Anderson played two seasons for the Bulldogs from 2016-2018. He decided to sign with the Devils and forgo his final two seasons of NCAA eligibility last spring after the Bulldogs beat Notre Dame for the national championship in St. Paul.
