The inaugural National Collegiate Hockey Conference Media Day is Thursday at Target Center in Minneapolis.
Across town, at St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center, the Big Ten Conference is holding its hockey media day debut.
The events kick off a new era in college hockey.
Upon Penn State's announcement that it was adding college hockey, the Big Ten decided to form its own conference. Minnesota and Wisconsin left the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State did likewise from the now-defunct Central Collegiate Hockey Association to form a six-team league.
That led to the dominoes falling and six WCHA schools and two from the CCHA forming the NCHC.
