Moline, Schneider tied for 3rd in Minnesota amateur

Dan Moline of Duluth and Matt Schneider of Grand Rapids were tied for third after two rounds Tuesday in the 109th Minnesota Golf Association men's amateur at Hastings Country Club in Hastings, Minn.

University of Minnesota senior Frederick Van Rooyen of South Africa led with scores of 72-68--140, 2 under par. Former University of North Dakota hockey player Jesse Bull of Golden Valley, Minn., was one shot back at 68-73--141. The final 18 holes are today.

Four players are tied for third, three shots back at 143, including Moline (73-70) and Schneider, a former Bowling Green State player, (72-71). Also from the Northland, tied at 148, are Andrew Oakes (77-71) and Alex Kolquist (74-74), both of Hermantown, and Clint Cornell of Grand Rapids at 152 (76-76).

Gundersen leads women's Northland Invitational

Jackie Gundersen of Hudson, Wis., leads the Northland Invitational women's tournament after shooting a first-round 3-over-par 75 Tuesday at Northland Country Club. The final round is today.

Former champion Sue Liberty of Duluth was second at 77 and tied for third at 78 were Norma O'Leary of Silver Bay and Claudia Pilot of Austin, Minn.
