  • Boats must be powered by electric trolling motors only.
  • Starting Aug. 1, night bowfishing will be permitted on Minnesota waters (with a few exceptions). Noise restrictions are imposed. Currently, night bowfishing is allowed only on selected lakes.
  • A Minnesota fishing license is required for bowfishers 16 and older. Wisconsin bowfishing regulations

  • Bowfishing for rough fish is permitted statewide, both day and night.
  • A Wisconsin fishing license is required for residents 16 and older except those born before Jan. 1, 1927.
  • Rough fish taken must not be returned to the water or left on the ice or on shore.
  • Must use tethered arrows tipped with barbed points.
