Men’s soccer: Rodriguez sparks UWS victory

Senior midfielder Gio Rodriguez scored twice in the opening 10 minutes and Wisconsin-Superior held on a for 2-0 nonconference victory over St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minn., on Sunday.
Rodriguez opened the scoring at the 4:58 mark of the match on an assist from junior midfielder Reyman Solis. He tacked on his second tally three minutes later, taking a pass from senior midfielder Ryan Linsmayer and knocking it off the goalkeeper’s hands and into the net.
Senior goalkeeper Ben Wilhelm made seven saves for the Yellowjackets (7-7), who evened their record at .500. Payton Spencer made five saves for the Johnnies (5-6-3).
