Grand Rapids-Greenway and Hibbing-Chisholm each lost in the Section 7AA girls tennis semifinals Monday as their bid for a state tournament berth came to an end.
Forest Lake defeated Grand Rapids-Greenway 6-1 and Elk River beat Hibbing-Chisholm by the same score at Gold's Gym in Sartell, Minn.
No. 9-ranked Elk River defeated No. 7 Forest Lake 6-1 in the finals and faces No. 1 Rochester Mayo in the Minnesota Class AA quarterfinals at noon Oct. 22 at the Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis.
* The Section 7A singles and doubles individual tournament takes place today in Virginia. Singles quarterfinal matches begin at 9 a.m., with doubles quarterfinals starting at 10 a.m. The Section 7AA individual tournament is in Sartell.
No. 8 Virginia meets No. 1 Rochester Lourdes in the Class A quarterfinals at noon Oct. 22 at the Reed Sweatt Family Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

Today's Section 7A girls soccer semifinal between Esko-Carlton and Cloquet has been moved from Bromberg Field in Cloquet to Public Schools Stadium. The game will start at 8 p.m., following a 7A boys semifinal between Chisago Lakes Area and Duluth East.
The other section semifinals will be played at Corey Veech Field in Hermantown. A girls semifinal pitting Two Harbors against Hermantown is at 5 p.m., followed by a boys semifinal between Grand Rapids and Hermantown at 7.
