Lakeview Christian Academy basketball standout Anders Broman has committed to play college basketball at Division I South Dakota State University.
The high school senior, who set the Minnesota single-season scoring record last season and is closing in on the state's career scoring record, told the News Tribune on Sunday night that he made the decision after making an official visit to the campus in Brookings, S.D., this weekend. That followed an unofficial visit to SDSU in August, and official visits to Vermont and Yale.
"I just really loved the campus," Broman said of SDSU. "They have a great program (that) keeps getting better and better. ... It felt like the right fit for me."
South Dakota State, which moved to Division I for the 2004-05 season and plays in the Summit League, qualified for its first NCAA men's basketball tournament at that level last season. The Jackrabbits fell to Baylor in a first-round game.
Broman, who thanked his high school and AAU coaches and teammates as he talked about his college plans, said South Dakota State's style of play -- getting up and down the court quickly -- suits him well.

An official signing of a letter of intent to play for the Jackrabbits must wait until November.
