The Superior Lakers and Twin Ports North Stars split an Upper 13 League doubleheader Saturday afternoon in Solon Springs, with the Lakers winning the opener 8-3 and the North Stars salvaging the second game 21-3 in five innings. The loss was the first in the league for Superior in two years.

Adam Zwak was the winning pitcher for the Lakers, allowing five hits with 10 strikeouts. Kyle Hoffman led Superior with three hits and three RBIs, including a two-run home run. Orry Engebretsen and Taylor Olson each had two hits and an RBI.

The North Stars (16-8) got RBI singles from Cal Fougner and Dale Rajala, and singles from Brendan Willis, Joe Stark and Bob Eastman.

In the second game, the North Stars had 19 hits and led 4-0 after one inning. Stark had four hits and six RBIs, including a three-run home run. Eastman added two home runs. Mike Swanson picked up the pitching win, allowing three hits.

The Lakers got an RBI single from Hoffman, and singles from Olson and Dylan Ramage.
