Scott Brygger of Lake Nebagamon works behind the scenes for Sam Schmidt Motorsports, but his role is vital.
Brygger's a tire specialist for SSM, which is owned by former driver Sam Schmidt, and he will be busy today during the Indianapolis 500 working for the No. 99 team and driver Townsend Bell, who is starting 20th. SSM also fields a car driven by Simon Pagenaud.
Last year, the SSM team sat on the pole for the Indy 500 with driver Alex Tagliani.
SSM fields cars in the IZOD IndyCar Series, which includes the Indianapolis 500, and the Firestone Indy Lights championship. The team has 48 race wins and five championships in the Firestone Indy Lights series and has qualified 14 cars in the Indy 500 since 2001.
