Former Minnesota Duluth All-American defenseman Tom Kurvers of Bloomington, Minn., is ranked No. 54 among all-time state high school players by Minnesota Hockey Hub.

At Bloomington Jefferson High School, Kurvers helped the Jaguars to the 1980 state tournament, the first appearance in school history. The Jaguars placed third and finished 22-2-2. In four years with the Bulldogs he had 43 goals and 149 assists for 192 points in 164 games from 1980-84. He became the first UMD player to win the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, claiming the honor in 1984.

Kurvers, 48, played in 659 games in the NHL in an 11-year career that ended in 1996. He's now the assistant general manager with the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning.
