Huskies split with Bucks

Tim Jobe scored the eventual game-winning run off a sacrifice fly by Ty Main in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Duluth Huskies edged the Waterloo Bucks 3-2 in a Northwoods League game Sunday at Wade Stadium.

Josh Godfrey earned his first win of the season, allowing two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts in eight innings.

Mitch Mormann pitched the ninth inning for his first save of the season. Waterloo's Derek Ott took the loss after giving up one run on one hit and one walk with one strikeout in one inning of relief.

The Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the second after Evan Cox's single allowed Steven Chatwood to score. Jobe doubled Duluth's lead with a leadoff home run in the fourth.

Waterloo (12-15) tied the game with a two-run seventh inning before the Huskies regained the lead for good in the eighth.

Duluth (9-21) travels to play St. Cloud (14-14) at 7:05 p.m. today.

* The Bucks shut out the Huskies 5-0 in a Northwoods League game Saturday at Wade Stadium.

Cam Nobles earned the win for Waterloo, with James Jones getting the save.

T.J. Walz was the losing pitcher for Duluth.

Waterloo held Duluth to just two hits during the game.
