Erik Johnson pitched seven strong innings as the Alexandria Beetles earned a series split by beating the Duluth Huskies 3-0 on Friday in a Northwoods League baseball game before 862 spectators at Wade Stadium.
Johnson (3-1) scattered six hits, with one walk and three strikeouts. Matt Miller earned his seventh save while Chase Porch hit a solo home run for the Beetles (9-8 second half, 29-22 overall).
Matt Harrison, who had the game-winning double in Thursday's dramatic 7-6 victory over the Beetles, had two hits to lead Duluth (7-12, 20-32). It was the Huskies second game with new coach Terry Collins, but unlike Thursday, the Huskies couldn't get key hits as they stranded five base runners.
Duluth pitcher Sean Yost fell to 1-6 despite a 2.98 ERA.

St. Scholastica first baseman Sean Claugherty signed Friday with the Northwoods League's Thunder Bay Border Cats.
Claugherty, a 6-foot-3, 225-pounder from Oakdale, Minn., batted .393 as a junior, with 52 runs, 16 doubles, 38 RBIs and a .545 on-base percentage.
Thunder Bay opens a two-game set at Duluth at 7:05 p.m. today at Wade Stadium, with Sunday's game starting at 5:05 p.m. It's part of a six-game home stand for the Huskies.
