Huskies outscore Alexandria, 20-18

James Ramsay of South Florida went 3-for-4 with three runs and five RBIs as the Duluth Huskies outslugged the Alexandria Beetles, 20-18, in a Northwoods League game on Wednesday night at Knute Nelson Memorial Park in Alexandria, Minn.

Brian Hansen added four hits, five runs and two RBIs. Luke Campbell had only one hit but it was a grand slam, while catcher Connor Joe added two hits, three runs and five RBIs for the Huskies (5-3 second half, 24-18 overall). Designated hitter Paul Karmeris did just that for Duluth, with seven plate appearances in the nine-inning game, adding four hits, two runs and three RBIs.

Matt Lowenstein had four hits to lead Alexandria (3-4, 16-26).

The teams combined on 39 hits and seven errors. The Huskies had a combined 17 runs in the fourth and fifth innings before the Beetles rallied.

The same teams rematch at 7:05 p.m. today at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.
