The Duluth Huskies committed five errors and gave up 18 hits in a 15-5 loss to the Mankato Moondogs in Northwoods League play Monday at Franklin Rogers Park in Mankato, Minn.
All five of the Huskies’ (1-5) runs came in the top of the fourth inning when they took a brief 5-3 lead. Third baseman Carter Hanford drove in the first run with an RBI single and right fielder Mitch Reeves produced the second with a sacrifice fly. The other three runs came off the bat of first baseman Matt Brown, who hit a home run.
The Moondogs (3-3) tied the game in the bottom half of the fourth, then poured on seven runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth.
Mankato third baseman David Metzger finished the night 5-for-6 with two doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored. Second baseman Jordan Washam went 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored.
The Huskies return home today to host La Crosse at 6:35 p.m. at Wade Stadium. Duluth has lost seven of its last eight games dating back to the conclusion of the first half of the season.
