Jack Reimann’s power-play goal at 9:14 in the second period proved to be the game-winner as the St. Cloud Norsemen held on to defeat the Minnesota Wilderness 3-2 in a North American Hockey League game Friday night before 650 at Northwoods Arena in Cloquet.
Reimann’s goal gave the Norsemen a 3-1 lead but it was short lived as Minnesota’s Brendan Poshak scored on assists from Christian Galatz and Oliver Bezick at 10:26 in the period.
The Wilderness could get no closer, however, as St. Cloud goalie Josh Langford finished with 21 saves while the Norsemen kept the pressure on, outshooting Minnesota 9-2 in the third.
Jacob Zacharewicz had 33 saves to lead the Wilderness.
The same teams rematch at 7 p.m. Saturday in St. Cloud.
