Adam Szubert’s goal at 3:51 in the third period lifted the Kenai River Brown Bears to a 5-4 victory over the Minnesota Wilderness in a North American Hockey League game Tuesday at Breezy Point (Minnesota) Hockey Center.

Szubert had a goal and two assists to lead the Brown Bears, while Gunnar Thoreson had a goal and an assist and goalie Jacob Zacharewicz stopped 32 shots for the Wilderness.

  • Jacob Badal had a shootout goal to lift the Wilderness to a 3-2 victory over the Brown Bears in a late game Sunday before 250 at Northwoods Credit Union Arena in Cloquet.

Badal was the third player up for Wilderness in the shootout after Gavin Rasmussen and Christian Galatz failed to convert. Earlier, Badal’s power-play goal at 19:52 in the second period, on assists from Thoreson and Grant Docter, had tied the game 2-2. That’s how it would stay until the shootout as Wilderness goalie Kaleb Johnson stopped 32 shots.
